I love using spray mists, and have a dozen or so masks, but had never thought of using chipboard as a mask ... and I have LOADS of chipboard!

UKS Art Journey

Finally the push I needed to get me working on an art journal. I'd had the journal lying around for ages, and I added two inked slide mounts that I got in a kit (years ago). My first entry is a favourite photo of having tea at Betty's in Harrogate, it cost a fortune but it was so worth it just for the luxurious surroundings.

Browsing t'Internet for a "good" dress form shape, I stumbled upon this great blog and this clear and detailed tutorial. Isn't it lovely!

I've just started my first art journal CJ, and I am LATE already (should have been posted yesterday, is still on my desk waiting to dry). So I have been looking around for art journal blogs, and I found this GORGEOUS entry

PHILS FOOLPROOF FLAPJACKS : 12 SLICES

150g butter
115g demerara sugar
1 tbsp golden syrup
190g cheap porridge oats
100g quality oats for texture

Grease a 9"/10" x 7″ baking tin.

BUTTER & SUGAR in microwave for 60 secs
(till butter has just melted)

Add the GOLDEN SYRUP & OATS
to make dryish mix

Preheat the oven : COOK 175c ... for 20 mins

DONT OVERCOOK... will go rock hard when cooled

After about 10 mins from coming out of the oven,
CUT to 12 rectangles while still warm.

Three years ago, when I was preparing to move house, I invested in 16 really useful boxes to sort my paper stash. I'm sad to say that some of these boxes contain the same stuff from 3 years ago (and I'd probably had the stash for a couple of years before that). So I would say I am most definitely a collection packer (or kit collector) ... why try to match papers and patterns if I can get someone else to do that for me!

Ouch, this layout was PAINFUL ... I started and abandoned several versions, and ended up with this cheat ... my themes were tartan (Tim Holtz distress stains, I love them) and gothic (two fantastic drawings of Hermione and Luna from fashion and action) ... this blog is beautiful and well worth a visit

Ribbon storage in coffee jars

I ended up with a huge stash of these jars when DH decided it was his favourite brand of coffee. Then I stumbled upon eatdrinkchic and discovered the HUGE resource of printables kindly provided by Amy Moss. To get the "antiquey" effect that I love, I printed them on cream matt paper. They are stuck to the jars with double sided tape, and a twist of ribbon is added to decorate the lids. Cute?

Handling the lead in my stained glass window is always a stressy time for me. I have four "flags" in my three panels, and this is the way Chloe suggested I tackle the sharp angles of the triangle. I made a good deal of progress this week, the blue "sea" is a gorgeous colour.

Although there are 13 pairs of crocs in the pic, I was also wearing a pair! I have culled my collection to a measly 6 pairs. Four pairs were wrecked, two pairs were too big and unworn, and two pairs were just too bright! The good ones are now swelling the shelves of a local charity shop ... wonder if anyone will buy them!!!

This is a HUGE window and I estimate it will take me the full 30 weeks to make the three panels. The glass has cost me over £50, and a couple of the shades are discontinued, so extra pressure on me to get the cut right first time!

I had an odd sheet of this funky paper from an old kit and I LOVE making pockets for journalling so this page only took me an hour or so. I would have liked to add a few music themed embellishments ... I miss having a local craft store, post seems to take so long to arrive, and stuff I have seen on the Internet is never quite as nice as I'd hoped.

I was very excited to read in the local newspaper that the Queen Elizabeth would be passing Saltburn-by-the-Sea on 3 September 2011 but they didnt give any idea what time. I managed to find a website that tracks marine traffic and "watched" as the ship sailed up the coast, heading for Scotland. So at 7.30pm I set off with my camera and took a whole bunch of pics.

Unfortunately it was kinda misty, so my pics are rubbish!!!

Such a clever idea for a CJ from Whatshousework. I've never worked on a circular CJ before. I dont like cooking, so my idea is to have a picnic (hopefully my guests will also bring some food and drink). All of the food pics came out of the latest issue of the free mag in Tesco, and I've had the grass printed paper for AGES.

Somehow my double page spread ended up looking VERY different. This is my favourite page, the background paper is embossed Bazzill that I sprayed with Perfect Pearls then cross striped with Distress Stains (I love them and would like every colour). The quote and mini postcards were from a stash swap, and the stamp was free with Craft Stamper.

I signed up to Create 10 http://www.facebook.com/pages/Crafty-Templates/165349430193543 and liked the paper flowers so much I made myself a bunch of them. I didnt have any lime green stash at all, so I inked several bits of light green patterned paper then chose the best of them. Unfortunately the ink I used didnt like any of the dry adhesives I had, so I ended up having to keep the layers together using brads.

I know I was VERY naughty chosing a "theme" rather than a colour for my CJ, but the results are simply BEAUTIFUL. This is the cover to my CJ, the paper came from one of those HUGE pads and I guess it was intended to be used in wedding layouts.

This is the page I did for jainethepain. The frames are wooden and originally contained a suspended sailboat (which I used for birthday cards). I inked them with Tim Holtz brown ink, and the ladies are glossed with diamond glaze. I then added a bit of bling with bronze gems.

Blogging for Scrapbookers Day 4

I'm taking my time to get thru the prompts, no rush, no pressure. My life is somewhat slow paced. I work from home (no commute), my work is low-medium pressure, I dont have kids, and I live in a village by the sea. How laid back can a person be? That is why I would classify my Tuesdays as MANIC! I have both glass class AND puppy training. So on Tuesdays I have to keep my eye on the clock. That is why my Wednesdays are especially slow paced ... Alfie is asleep on my feet and I am indulging in my favourites on iPlayer ... today I have listened to a chilling reading of Daphne Du Mauriers The Birds and my next treat is Wuthering Heights. I LOVE Wednesdays!!!

Here it is. The different colours and textures of red glass allow different amounts of light to pass, so the effect is very pretty.
