Learn Something New ... day 7

Its not me that is gluten-intolerant but my best friend. Couple that with being mostly meat-free and what is there left to eat on a restaurant menu? We were offered chicken liver pate (erm, isnt that meat) or leek soup (made with chicken stock) or ham salad (ham = pig = meat).

Learn Something New ...

Today is the first day of Shimelle's 30 day project for September. I participated in the very first Learn Something New (LSN) but I cannot find my album ANYWHERE ... fingers crossed it turns up some time over this month. I have a ring bound notebook that I bought from Paperchase MANY years ago, and will rip out about half of the pages to make room for efemera. The notebook has plain covers so I can add a bit of embellishment. I'm intending to put my notebook, favourite pens, efemera, gluesticks, alphabets, stickers and some journalling blocks in a jute shopper, so my "kit" is portable and I can journal in bed or in the living room (or on the beach, if the weather is nice).

New CJ: cover

Posted by Picasa

I usually diamond glaze the covers of my CJs, but I wasnt sure that would be a good look for the theme of "manila". Fingers crossed the alphas are super sticky!

The sheet of alphabet stickers came with a sheet of pearl embellishments, gorgeous.

New CJ: rules

I got the chance to play with my Tim Holtz stamps, and distress inks.

The rules for my CJ are to take a whole page to "sign in". I have chosen a photo from 1966 when I was 5 years old, at the seaside with my dad, his brother and three of my cousins.

I love the Tim Holtz bird in a cage die cuts, so I bought a bunch of them from ebay. This one has been clear embossed.

Nature CJ: my entry (left hand page)

I had a bit of a sort out of stash into COLOUR order, thought it might be easier to make a dent in it! I found this grass background paper (no idea where it was from) along with cork and what looks like rusty metal background paper. I've had the felt tulips for ages, and the ribbon ... so I made a small inroad into the TONS of embellies that I have ... I stuck the felt down with glue dots, I hope they hold

Twilight CJ: left hand page

Themed CJs are my least favourite because I dont have easy access to a printer. However, it was lucky that the CJ landed on my mat just about the time the latest movie was released, so there were articles in several magazines I buy anyway ... this photo was on the front page of the Radio Times (strange, since there were no Twilight movies on TV that week).
