Look at the fabby pin cushion in my sidebar! It doesnt alter the nesting doll at all (the pins stick in a styrene egg covered in stretchy fabric). Isnt that just the cleverest way to display your pins!

I have signed up with elsie to make my first art journal. This is a HUGE committment, there is an assignment every day for 6 weeks. The class started today, and I have done my introductory pages ... hurrah for me. I will photograph and upload them, probably in weekly batches. I've also got two CJs to do this week ...

Crackle paint and mini canvases

 

I got my kit yesterday from 3DJean and immediately set to work. There is lots of inspiration on the shop blog (in sidebar) so I started by thickly painting four mini canvases and a host of chipboard. I attached a bit of card to the back of the canvas so I had something to hold onto. Leave to dry for 24 hours!

 

The paint has cracked the best where it is thickest, here it is dabbed with ink then sprayed with glimmer mist

my neighbourhood

I love where I live, I'm 125 steps from the sea, and about the same distance from formal gardens and hazel woods. In the summer we have outdoor concerts ... pets are invited! I scraplifted that lovely layout again ...

an adventure???

I'm not the most adventurous holidaymaker ... but I do like visiting new places. Last year we visited Tallinn, its a beautiful place with great shopping and tons of history. Take four squares

I can't believe I've not thought of doing a layout like this before, the four square background gives the benefit of displaying both sides of two-side paper.

Bunting ... or a mini book?

Isnt this bunting just adorable! But its not bunting, its a mini book that is FREE to download from twopeas. I thought it was too pretty to be hidden away on a shelf, so I printed it out on vellum, handrounded the corners and joined it with sparkly brads. Its in its temporary home until I get some photos suitable ... then it will be strung over my mirror.

6pm friday cupcake challenge

Shimelle is running a scrapping party this weekend and her first challenge was to make cupcakes ... am I the only person in the world who detests those little cups of tooth-tingling nastiness??? I guess so. Anyway, I dont "do" cupcakes, but I do love fruit cake, and what could be better than fruitcake with chunks of ginger AND a gingerman on top!

I adore acetate (transparent film) ... I bought a HUGE pack of inkjet printable film a zillion years ago and I use it for everything, including an emergency desk cover when I am inking, to stop pages sticking together when I post on a CJ or to assemble a title when I am unsure if it will fit the space. This art doll is assembled on an acetate and has wings stamped on acetate and layered.

I have a desk

I bought this from my local auction house ... but its a bit whiffy! Either they had a very damp house or it spent some time in a shed. Its the perfect size for my craft room, and nicely shabby so I dont feel guilty when I spill ink on it!

A slow start

Here is the beginning of my new window ... it is one of a pair for my hallway. It is MUCH more complicated than my previous window, this one has a variety of angles.

Glass class starts today

I am in my first year of a stained glass course. I have made two apprentice pieces and one internal window. There is something magical about working in glass, it takes a great deal of dexterity and skill but the rewards are worth it. Today I begin the first of five matching windows, my template is ready, the glass is ordered. But until the piecing begins, I am never sure if the pattern will work.
