Thru the square window

I have about 5 hours of work left on the window, it needs to be grouted to give stability and a patina added. So I have two dirty messy sessions to look forward to!

Look what we had for Sunday tea!

DH decided he wanted to make a Victoria sponge for tea. We both enjoyed the great british bake off and we both like cake! So he followed this easy recipe from deliaonline

Here is the finished cake. The filling is whipped cream and strawberry jam ... yummy!!!

Window update

Here it is, I'm enjoying this so much!

Project runway CJ ... denim

And here is my version of the denim posies. I dont know how I ended up with two pages that are so different, and I'm kinda disappointed that I wasnt able to distress the background bazzill enough to make it "properly" denim-like.

Happy scrappers CJ ... doors

This has to be the MOST complicated CJ I have ever done. The tag is hinged to reveal a door that opens to reveal another tag which can be removed to reveal a map.

Denim posies

I am just about to make a layout using denim and I happened to find this tutorial to make denim blossoms. Look how cute they are!

60 scrappy freebies

This blog is a fantastic resource. The links are over a year old, so they might not all work, but the ones I clicked on were GORGEOUS ... anyone for a cowboy?

Free printable tickets

These are just gorgeous. I printed them out on cream paper.

Pretty paper party ... how I sort my paper

Three years ago, when I was preparing to move house, I invested in 16 really useful boxes to sort my paper stash. I'm sad to say that some of these boxes contain the same stuff from 3 years ago (and I'd probably had the stash for a couple of years before that). So I would say I am most definitely a collection packer (or kit collector) ... why try to match papers and patterns if I can get someone else to do that for me!

Project runway CJ ... mix and match

Ouch, this layout was PAINFUL ... I started and abandoned several versions, and ended up with this cheat ... my themes were tartan (Tim Holtz distress stains, I love them) and gothic (two fantastic drawings of Hermione and Luna from fashion and action) ... this blog is beautiful and well worth a visit

Ribbon storage in coffee jars

Posted by PicasaI ended up with a huge stash of these jars when DH decided it was his favourite brand of coffee. Then I stumbled upon eatdrinkchic and discovered the HUGE resource of printables kindly provided by Amy Moss. To get the "antiquey" effect that I love, I printed them on cream matt paper. They are stuck to the jars with double sided tape, and a twist of ribbon is added to decorate the lids. Cute?

Happy scrappers CJ ... all our yesterdays

The flower embellishment is a hair grip from Claire's Accessories and I inked the tags with Tim Holtz distress stains.

Its all in the joints

Handling the lead in my stained glass window is always a stressy time for me. I have four "flags" in my three panels, and this is the way Chloe suggested I tackle the sharp angles of the triangle. I made a good deal of progress this week, the blue "sea" is a gorgeous colour.

Strike a pose CJ ... year in the life

Isn't the cover of this CJ just beautiful! I hope Jan likes what I have done. We are only TWO postings from the end of this CJ, it has gone so fast!

Croc clearout

Although there are 13 pairs of crocs in the pic, I was also wearing a pair! I have culled my collection to a measly 6 pairs. Four pairs were wrecked, two pairs were too big and unworn, and two pairs were just too bright! The good ones are now swelling the shelves of a local charity shop ... wonder if anyone will buy them!!!

Fused glass ... before and after

Had another fun session at Nature's World, Middlesbrough, with the lovely Jo Lumley. Sadly she doesnt have a web link. The glass was fused and then slumped (heated in a mould).

Bowl before
Bowl after ... didnt expect the blue glass to turn pink (or the blue sprinkles to turn green)

Shallow wave after ...
Shallow wave before ...

Deep wave before ...

Deep wave after ... how odd that I chose the colours of a police car

Stained glass ... new project!

This is a HUGE window and I estimate it will take me the full 30 weeks to make the three panels. The glass has cost me over £50, and a couple of the shades are discontinued, so extra pressure on me to get the cut right first time!

Project runway CJ ... rock the runway

I had an odd sheet of this funky paper from an old kit and I LOVE making pockets for journalling so this page only took me an hour or so. I would have liked to add a few music themed embellishments ... I miss having a local craft store, post seems to take so long to arrive, and stuff I have seen on the Internet is never quite as nice as I'd hoped.

Happy scrappers CJ ... favourite memories

A somewhat difficult choice, I have LOTS of favourite memories. However, as I was just about to begin a new HUGE stained glass project, I dug out my folder of pics and reminisced.

Queen Elizabeth visits Saltburn

I was very excited to read in the local newspaper that the Queen Elizabeth would be passing Saltburn-by-the-Sea on 3 September 2011 but they didnt give any idea what time. I managed to find a website that tracks marine traffic and "watched" as the ship sailed up the coast, heading for Scotland. So at 7.30pm I set off with my camera and took a whole bunch of pics.
Unfortunately it was kinda misty, so my pics are rubbish!!!

Look at the fabby blog!

http://www.eatdrinkchic.com/

I stumbled upon this blog today when I was looking for printable jar labels. There are LOADS of freebies, and gorgeous articles and it is now a firm favourite. I'll post pics of my "altered jars" later today.
